Klooster FCJM Sint. Liborius, Nickerie-Diocese of Paramaribo
The presence of FCJM in Suriname aims to live and process with the people in an environment that consists of various ethnic groups. This situation presupposes that there is togetherness and unity in their midst. However, the different needs and goals of each person or ethnic group can lead to conflict. So we, the FCJM sisters in Suriname, try to instill Franciscan spirituality, especially to children who are still easy to understand. The value of humanity and togetherness are two important things that we want to always instill.

The efforts we make to instill these values are not just talking in front of them when we give Religious Education lessons, but also taking them directly to our field of service. For example, bringing communion to the elderly and the sick, organizing family visits, cleaning the environment inside and outside the church, and also fostering a spirit of sharing for those who are really poor and need help, bringing them to the station where we serve to see that many human beings really need a helping hand.
