JPIC Roma Integral ecology recognizes the deep interconnectedness of all living things, calling for respect for the dignity and rights of humans and non-humans. It criticizes the dominant economic system that exploits natural resources, perpetuates inequality, and endangers the future of the planet. For this reason, the JPIC international coordinators in each congregation, represented by some of the priests and sisters involved in JPIC, organized a pilgrimage and prayer along the Trastevere river. This was held to remember the earth we inhabit as our common home.  In some countries such as Latin America, a region rich in natural resources, extractive industries, especially mining, have caused severe environmental and social problems. Communities face the destruction of ecosystems, deforestation, and contamination of water sources. contamination of water sources. The toxic byproducts of mining, such as heavy metals, pose serious health risks and contribute to long-term environmental degradation.
