Pope Francis at the Jubilee of the World of Communications: “be communicators of hope”

The Department of Communications of the Vatican brought together about 10,000 thousand journalists, editors, and important persons in the field of communications to celebrate the “Jubilee of the World of Communications” in Rome on January 24-26, 2025.

They travelled from around 138 countries to participate in activities with special invited speakers.

On Saturday, January 25th, Pope Francis made his presence and gave an important message to the thousands of gathered participants.

“be communicators of hope” he stated firmly in Paul VI Hall.

For today, communication often generates fear and despair, prejudice, bigotry and even hatred instead of hope. So, Pope Francis encouraged all the participants to be communicators of hope.

“In the face of the astonishing achievements of technology, I encourage you to care for your heart, your interior life,” he insisted.

His Holiness also addressed the issue of communication.

“Communicating means going out of myself a little bit to give something of myself to the other.”

Communication is also not only the sharing of news, but also an encounter with others. A person who knows how to communicate is therefore a person of great wisdom.

He also expressed that he was delighted with the event of the Jubilee of the communicators.

“Your work is a work that builds. It builds up society, it builds up the Church, it makes everyone move forward, as long as it is true. That is such a great test.”

It is also reiterated that God Himself set a good example in communicating with His Son.

“Communicating is what God does with His Son, and God’s communication with the Son is the Holy Spirit. Communicating something divine. Thank you for what you do,” he concluded and was applauded by all participants.
