Arrival of New Sisters at the Generalate, Rome

The arrival of the sisters from Indonesia was warmly welcomed by the sisters in the FCJM Generalate community in Rome. The three sisters, Sr. M. Angela Siallagan, Sr. M. Riska Manalu, and Sr. M. Damiana Panjaitan were picked up from Fiumicino airport, Rome on October 22, 2023 after a one-day flight from Kuala Namu, Indonesia.

Sr. M. Angela is the FCJM Communication Coordinator and the other two sisters Sr. M. Riska will study Missiology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University and Sr.M. Damiana will study Liturgy at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant’Anselmo. Having adapted to the weather, food and environment in a very different setting from Indonesia, they were given the opportunity to attend language courses to facilitate the tasks entrusted to them by the Congregation.

Sr. M. Riska and Sr. M. Damiana started their Italian course at Dante School from November 2023 to February and April 2024. They attended an intensive course. In addition to the course, they also help with household tasks in the community.

Sr. M. Angela has been doing an English course at the American Academic Group since February 2024. She takes a two-day course (two hours a week). She continues to improve her English in order to facilitate her service in the FCJM team internationally.

The sisters in the international FCJM community in Rome attentively supported the three new sisters from practical matters such as being together in prayer, meals, and recreation. They were also given the opportunity to go on pilgrimages to historical places in Italy such as Assisi and some places in Rome.
