We celebrate the Ecumenical Season of Creation from September 1 through October 4, 2026. This year’s theme, “Living Water,” comes from Ezekiel 47:9 and 12, offering a biblical vision of hope and ecological restoration.

In Ezekiel 47, water flows from God’s sanctuary, healing and renewing the land, the waters, and our human responsibility toward creation. The prophet’s vision unfolds amid exile and loss. Water flows from the temple at first as a tiny stream that gradually deepens, bringing life to lifeless areas and restoring ecosystems. To receive this new life, we must step into the waters ourselves becoming part of God’s river and joining in the healing of creation.

This call to join in the healing of creation is beautifully reflected in the prayer and video prepared by our JPIC Team of the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters in 2023, which remain relevant to the 2026 theme.
