Visit to the Netherlands and Suriname

Visit to the Netherlands

The General Council member, Sr. M. Evifania Sinaga FCJM from Rome organized a visit of FCJM sisters in the Netherlands from January 23 to 28, 2024. The Provincial and Vice-Provincial of FCJM Indonesia also participated in the visit.  Sr. M. Theodosia Tinambunan and Sr.M. Lydia Simbolon traveled from Indonesia. They met at the FCJM community in Aerdenhout.

They stayed in Aerdenhout for about a week with activities such as meeting with the sisters both individually and together. The sisters also discussed the future of FCJM’s mission in Suriname and other matters.

All of them were filled with joy and warmth of sisterhood.  In the meantime, they also had the opportunity to present the situation of the sisters in the Indonesian Province and to make a pilgrimage to the graves of the former missionaries in Indonesia.

Visit to Suriname

After spending a week in the Netherlands, the three sisters traveled to FCJM’s mission area in Suriname from January 29 to February 8, 2024. They were introduced to a different atmosphere from the Netherlands. In Suriname, they were kindly welcomed by many people, including the sisters of FCJM, the local bishop, and the people there.

They took one week to make a visit of sisterhood, meeting privately and together with the sisters, meeting with the Bishop of Paramaribo, the local priests, and the people living in the Nickerie region. We hope that the encounters would bring a positive energy to the two FCJM missionaries in Suriname.
