Creation as the Annual Theme

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the environmental encyclical “Laudato si” and the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’s Canticle of the Creation, we hosted a monastery cinema on the topic of “Responsibility for Creation.” After the films, there was time for exchange and discussion. Drinks and snacks from the One World Shop could be purchased and consumed on site. This monastery cinema concept attracted a surprisingly large number of people.

Several family activities were also focused on this theme. Families were able to discover what can grow from a seed. Hand-lettering workshops for various groups offered the opportunity to get creative. The communion children from the pastoral association learned about St. Francis and his Canticle of the Creation in addition to Eucharistic adoration. With the help of our daycare children, the raised bed was refilled with soil and planted. The industrious little ones were very busy with their shovels.

A daycare pilgrimage through the beautiful creation according to a Marian pilgrimage site is planned for May, and at the end of September, a visit to a zoo nearby on the topic of “Animals of the Bible.” We are excited.
