Midlife Workshop in Lilongwe, Malawi
In May, twenty-six sisters from different communities across Malawi gathered for a week-long Midlife Workshop at the Msamba Catholic Centre in Lilongwe. The workshop was organised by the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa in collaboration with the Association of Women in Religious Institutes of Malawi.
The programme offered meaningful reflections on emotional intelligence and stress management, the sense of belonging in religious life, mental health and well-being in consecrated life, as well as the mission and global challenges facing religious life today. The sessions encouraged open sharing, deep listening, and mutual support among the participants.
Such gatherings are always life-giving. They renew our strength, deepen our sense of communion, and help us return to the heart of our vocation. God has called us to this way of life, where we strive to live faithfully according to the three evangelical counsels. In a rapidly changing world, we are reminded that our vocation remains meaningful and relevant.

Sr. Raynelda, Sr. Kristella, and Sr. Susanne participated in this workshop for sisters in midlife. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to Sister Grace, Sister Teresa of Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa, and Sister Agnes of Association of Women in Religious Institutes of Malawi for making their participation possible. The warm hospitality, thoughtful interactions, and joyful atmosphere throughout the week both during the sessions and in the evenings — made the experience deeply enriching and inspiring. The sisters returned to their communities carrying new insights, renewed energy, and a strengthened spirit of mission.
With gratitude and joy, we thank all the facilitators, organisers, and coordinators who contributed to this meaningful and enriching week.
