The community of Urumanduba in Santarém experienced days of deep devotion, joy, and fellowship during the festivities in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which began on June 16 and concluded on July 12. With a program that combined tradition, acts of solidarity, and the participation of brothers and sisters from different communities, the celebration became a special occasion for strengthening faith and fostering community bonds.

One of the highlights of this year’s celebration was the first Sacred Heart of Jesus Solidarity Run. A meaningful symbol of this initiative was the participation of novice Sr. Jaqueline FCJM, who joined the runners. Her presence alongside the local community demonstrated that devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is also expressed through active service, closeness to others, and a shared commitment to the common good.

The festivities lasted several weeks and included solemn Masses, moments of prayer, and various community activities. Representatives and parishioners from neighboring communities were warmly welcomed, sharing in the joy of the celebration and strengthening the bonds among the region’s Christian communities.

The Franciscan Sisters Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (FCJM) were a constant presence throughout the celebration. From the earliest stages of planning, they guided the preparations, assisted with the liturgical celebrations, welcomed visitors, and encouraged the community to live out the spirit of charity that characterizes devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Through their witness of life and generous service, they gave deeper meaning to every activity, reminding everyone that serving others is one of the most authentic ways to honor the Heart of Christ.

More than simply a series of scheduled events, the celebration was the fruit of the love and dedication of the people of Urumanduba. From the very beginning, residents generously volunteered their time and talents. Some organized the pilgrimages and coordinated the itinerary of the visits; others prepared the decorations, cleaned the celebration spaces, and arranged the venue. Families opened their homes and donated food and other supplies, while young people coordinated the logistics of the Solidarity Run and welcomed guests. People of all ages contributed with enthusiasm, making the celebration a true expression of shared faith and service.

Every contribution, no matter how small it seemed, was essential. It was the generous hearts of the people of Urumanduba that brought this celebration to life, reflecting the welcoming and compassionate love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

As the celebration came to a close, the community carried home not only joyful memories but also a renewed spirit of unity and a stronger commitment to live each day with the faith, charity, and solidarity that marked these weeks of celebration.
