The Seeds of FCJM Vocation in Malawi

The Seeds of FCJM Vocation in Malawi

When did the seed of vocation in Malawi emerge? Sr. Clara told us that the seed started to grow many years ago. A girl met Sr. Clara, asked her: ‘Can I become a Sister?’ From this initial encounter and small conversation, we put hope together for a vocation to grow. If God would ask us one day to open a formation house in Malawi, it would come to happen.

Over the years, our hope slowly came true. Through a mutual agreement between the Archdiocese of Lilongwe and the Congregation, formation house was built in Dowa.

We took the first step by making announcements in the parish and station churches. We invited young women who might be interested to join our Congregation, to attend the come and see program. In September 2022, the first meeting was attended by 12 young women, mostly students. This encounter aimed to get to know each other, both the young and the Sisters. The discernment programs done several times.
